India is home to over 1.3 billion people, making it the second-most populous country in the world. India is the second-most populous nation in the globe, with a population of over 1.3 billion. With a population of this magnitude, it is no surprise that India generates a significant amount of waste. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, India produces approximately 62 million tonnes of solid waste and over 3.5 billion liters of sewage every day. Managing this waste has become a significant challenge for the country, and this is where Sustainable Biosolutions (SUSBIO) is making a remarkable difference.
SUSBIO is a private limited company founded in May 2013 by two biotechnology postgraduates from BITS Pilani – Akshat Tyagi and Raghavendra Suryavanshi. The company’s primary focus is on developing and commercializing sustainable solutions and technologies for environmental problems related to solid and liquid waste management.
Over the years, SUSBIO has created a diverse range of eco-friendly products, including sewage treatment plants, biodigesters, bio-toilets, and organic waste composters. The company’s products have been designed to fulfil both Indian and international standards, making them an excellent choice for a wide range of clients.
The creation of SUSBIO® SBR, a ground-breaking waste treatment technology in partnership with the French Government Institution INRA, is one of SUSBIO’s most notable accomplishments. This technology fulfils both Indian (Pollution Control Board) and International (European) norms, making it an exceptional product for sewage treatment.
Daiki Axis Japan introduced the Japanese sewage purification technology JOHKAOU TECHNOLOGY to India, and SUSBIO is one of their channel partners. JOHKASOU is a prefabricated, fully automated, negligible electricity consumption, and zero-sound producing STP technology that can be used for small-scale residential and commercial purposes.
The company’s rapid e-composter is another exceptional product that can convert organic waste into compost in just 24 hours. This automated machine can convert food waste, garden waste, and other decomposable solid waste into manure with an 80% reduction in volume and negligible moisture content, resulting in no foul smell or pest issues, which were the drawbacks of traditional OWC machines.
The SUSBIO team is dedicated to giving every one of their clients flawless, technologically advanced products as well as unwavering after-sales service and support. This approach has helped the company to attain recurring orders and positive customer feedback, building trust and credibility among their clients.
SUSBIO’s co-founders, Akshat Tyagi and Raghavendra, are true leaders who believe in efficient leadership. They believe that a leader should direct, educate, guide, and train their team and set an example for team members to follow and excel. Additionally, they think that effective leadership entails establishing and achieving objectives, taking on the opposition, and finding quick and decisive solutions to issues.
For SUSBIO, the employees are as essential as the products they manufacture. The company treats its employees like family and provides them with the necessary training to understand the company’s product and vision. They also ensure that their employees have a good physical and mental working environment to keep them motivated to work harder and align themselves with the company’s goals.
SUSBIO has encountered its share of difficulties, such as opposition to starting its business when established market leaders dominated, but they have always had faith in its abilities and the seamless delivery of first-rate goods and services. Their belief in themselves has helped them win the trust of their clientele.
Akshat and Raghavendra have planned a wide variety of different products and services related to solid and liquid waste management and recycling as part of their plans to sail into another successful year. They will continue to add new technologies and innovations to their portfolio, expanding their customer base and contributing to India’s waste management sector’s growth.
In addition to its focus on eco-friendly solutions, SUSBIO is also committed to sustainable business practices. The company sources raw materials from local vendors, uses solar power to run its office and production units, and has implemented various measures to reduce its carbon footprint. SUSBIO also actively engages with local communities to create awareness about waste management and its impact on the environment.
SUSBIO’s commitment to sustainability has not gone unnoticed. The company has received numerous accolades and awards, including the prestigious “India Emerging 20” award by London and Partners and the Mayor of London in 2018. SUSBIO was also selected for the prestigious World Bank-supported Climate Launchpad program in 2020.
Sustainable Biosolutions is a testament to the power of entrepreneurship and innovation. By developing sustainable solutions for India’s waste management challenges, SUSBIO has not only created a successful business but has also contributed to the country’s environmental goals. As India continues to grow and urbanize, the need for sustainable waste management solutions will only increase, and SUSBIO is well-positioned to lead the way in this critical sector.
